Speaker: Pastor Beverly Crawford
Date: Sunday, October 20, 2024
Topic: "You Are Somebody"
Scripture: Proverbs 31: 27-30
From the desk of Pastor T.C. Johnson
We were blessed to celebrated Women’s Day with Pastor Beverly Crawford a nationally renowned gospel recording artist and minister. We are thankful for the St Luke Women’s leadership team for the work that they did to make the event impactful. The Women’s choir was outstanding and made us both proud and excited as we anxiously look forward to future blessings from the women’s ministry. The remarks that have been made about the service are very flattering and very appreciated. The commentary about Pastor Crawford being so warm, relatable, and down to earth, made her fit the St Luke family’s worship/fellowship style. The message was uplifting as she spoke to everyone about how God sees and values all His children. Although it was encouraging to everyone, I believe that those women who have had to suffer silently because of hurt that had to be hid were helped to know that they are more than those negative situations.
In this well-known and often used text, a mother is giving her son instructions on living a prosperous and successful life before God and man. She tells her son about the tragedies of drunkenness and womanizing and gives him a long discourse on what to look for in a women fit to be a wife. Beverly took the gender out of the text and made it a mother talking to her child regardless of gender. She weaved the impact that her own mother had on her with the needs that children have today. The story telling of simple, yet real events, took many of us back down memory lane as we were reminded of family order and respect that seems to be something of the pass these days. Many of us must admit that we became somebody because God placed Somebody in our life to teach us, show us, and train us, on how to act like somebody if we were to become somebody.
Be Blessed!
Pastor T.C. Johnson
