Scripture: - Luke 17:11-19
Scripture Reading - Luke 17:11-19
Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy
11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. 15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
Sermon Summary
The Lord is still in the miracle working business so when God has performed a miracle in your life don't get spiritual amnesia and forget what he has done for you. When you think about your condition before Jesus showed up and turned your life around and then think about where you are now it will cause you to shout and go into a radical praise because where I am now is better than where I was and it's all because of Jesus. I'm better because of Jesus!!! My life was a mess and I was in a hopeless predicament until he came and showed me that he can do the impossible!!! I know that it was nothing short of a miracle because there were times and situations where I did not know how he was going to do it... when he was going to do it.... or how long it was going to take him to do it but just when I needed him the most... MY MIRACLE WORKER SHOWED UP!!! The ten men in the text were living in a bad condition because they had leprosy. Leprosy was an incurable disease. Those who had the disease were supposed to stay outside of the city and notify others they came in contact with that they had the disease. Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem and he traveled along Samaria and Galilee. As Jesus was entering a certain village the ten lepers met him, but they stood afar off. They must have heard about Jesus and they knew his power so they approached him and did not want to miss this opportunity. They did not get close because of their condition but they apparently knew that if they came anywhere in proximity with Jesus their situation would change. When they approached him they could have said, "Master heal us" but instead they said, "Master have mercy on us." Verse 14 says, "And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests..."
Tradition says that if a leper thought the leprosy was gone then they must present themselves to the priest as sign that they were declared healed and cleansed. They still had the leprosy but they took Jesus at his word and stepped out on faith. The Bible says that, "As they went they were cleansed." In other words on their way to the place they were previously diagnosed, they were healed!!! They did not even make it to the priests but because they trusted the Lord and stepped out in faith they were all healed because of the word of the Lord spoken over their lives. When you step out on faith the supernatural will occur as God can take what may look bad and turn it around for your good. Jesus healed all 10 lepers but only one turned back to thank him. Nine of them were Jews and one was a Samaritan. The Jews were God's chosen people and Jesus was a Jew so the nine Jewish lepers should have been the ones that showed the most appreciation for Jesus healing them. It was the Samaritan who had no affiliation and dealings with the Jews who showed the most appreciation for the healing. Nine forgot and went on their way but one remembered his condition before he came in contact with Jesus and he went back to show his gratitude. Only the one came back to Jesus to thank him, “And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus posed the question, “Were there not ten cleansed, where are the nine?" I can imagine the one leper responding to Jesus' question by saying, "Lord they must have forgot what you did but I can't ever forget and when I think I begin to THANK!!! I'm here to say thank you for all you have done for me. I might be the only one but that's alright I will never forget what Jesus has done for me!!! l'm like the one leper who went back, "I can't speak for any one else but when I think of the goodness of Jesus and all that he has done for me my soul cries out Hallelujah!!! Thank God for blessing me!!! I am the one that came back to tell the Lord thank you!!!
Be Blessed,
Minister Reginald Johnson

November is National Family Caregivers Month
|
National Family Caregiver Month is celebrated every November to recognize and honor the contributions of family caregivers across the United States. This observance aims to raise awareness of caregiving issues, educate communities, and increase support for caregivers, who number over 63 million in the country. It is also an opportunity to promote mental health, encourage respite care, and remind caregivers to take care of themselves. Various organizations and programs, including the VA Caregiver Support Program, participate in activities to support and honor caregivers during this month.

Hey Family! Just a reminder that the open enrollment period for Medicare begins today and goes thru Dec 7.
This is for start date Jan 1 2026. Please be sure to review your plan and any changes that will take place next year. A lot of changes will take place next year. Some surprises that could be disruptive: your copay may increase, your provider may not be covered anymore, your plan may no longer be offered in your area, your meds may be in a different tier than before causing a change in price, the deductible could have increased. These changes won’t really be announced
My suggestion- get a list of your meds, get a list of your providers (primary care and any specialists you expect to see for any reason), any procedures/treatments expected, etc and find that letter from September if you have it (from your current plan) to review any changes. Or call 1-800-Medicare (633-4227)
