Sunday Sermon - September 28, 2025
|
Speaker: Min. Reginald Johnson
Date: Sunday, September 28, 2025
Topic: "You can make it, but you gotta BE STRONG!"
Scripture: Deuteronomy 37:1-8
Scripture Reading - Deuteronomy 37:7-8
7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Sermon Summary
You don’t realize how strong you are until you are tested. Life’s challenges and tests show you that you are stronger than you imagine and stronger than you give yourself credit. You have experienced moments where you have been at your weakest but you survived. You didn’t survive because you had so much strength and power but you learned how to push through the pain. If you made it through your weakest moments and it didn’t destroy you have a testimony that it only made you stronger. You can make it but you gotta be strong!!! In the text the Children of Israel have made it out of Egypt, made it through the wilderness, and they are preparing for the Promised Land. Moses in this 2nd book of the law known as Deuteronomy reminds them of how they made it out of Egypt, reminds them to continue to serve Yahweh, and prepares them for the Promised Land under the leadership of Joshua. Moses recognizes that he has completed his mission and now the next generation of leadership will take them further. Moses did his part and made way for Joshua to lead the people further!!! Moses knew that in order to reach their goal they needed to be strategic and focused. They could have gotten to their destination in 11 days according to Deuteronomy chapter 1 but it took them 40 years. Their sin, disobedience, and rebellious ways caused them to wander for 40 years. You can’t enter the Promised Place with a Wilderness mentality. Why would God entrust you with his Promise when you still have wilderness ways? God didn’t destroy all of them as they deserved but he had to get the wilderness out of them before he blessed them with the promises. What is your wilderness?
We are being faced with adversity in 2025 and it’s only the beginning but we have to be wise, strategic and focused. We didn’t make it this far because we had it easy we had to come up the rough side of the mountain and now that we are here we can’t lose sight of the promises ahead. Moses understood what was ahead and he was getting them prepared to prosper despite the pressure and problems they faced they would still have PROVISIONS!!! The songwriter said, “The Lord will make a way somehow!!! Be strong and stop letting others intimidate you… Stand Strong!!! Stop letting people cause you to forget that this is not first time I have challenges, obstacles, and adversity. I made it through rough times and with God on my side I can make it now. And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them." The reason you are going to make it is because God’s got you!!! He’s got you the same way he took care of his Son Jesus….
Be Blessed,
Min. Reginald Johnson

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
|
Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence. Every October, organizations and individuals unite across the country for a national effort to uplift the needs, voices, and experiences of survivors. Congress declared the month of October to be Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1989.
For DVAM 2025, the Domestic Violence Awareness Project is proud to introduce the theme With Survivors, Always. This theme allows us to explore what it means to be in partnership with survivors toward safety, support, and solidarity. It is both a love letter and a call to action for those committed to advocating for survivors’ needs and rights.
Survivors deserve safety. Survivors deserve support. Survivors deserve solidarity. For DVAM 2025 and beyond, we commit to showing up for survivors, always.
