Sunday Sermon - February 22, 2026
|
Speaker: Pastor T. C. Johnson
Date: February 22, 2026
Topic: We Are Going to Make It
Scripture: Romans 8:35-39 (KJV)
Sermon Summary
Topic: We Are Going to Make It
Romans 8:35-39
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril. or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is Jesus Christ our Lord.
During this month, we celebrate Black History Month in most of American. This celebration is to lift, list, remember, and recognize the contributions that Africans and their descendants have made toward the development of what some believe to have become the most powerful and richest nation that the world has ever known. Black History Month also lifts, lists, remembers, and recognizes that Black people who God used to lead those descendants to persevere and endure the longest and most brutal form of slavery ever suffered by a people. We reflect upon a people who were stolen from the Mother Land, endured the deplorable conditions of the Middle Passage, suffered but survived 250 years of abject chattel slavery, overcame the lynchings that occurred for an additional 100 years of Jim Crow law, and still stand amidst a resurgence of racial hatred and a national leadership hellbent on erasing the records and reversing the rights that were gained by bloody sacrifice. We have come this far by faith, both leaning and depending on God!
In the text, the believers are being persecuted and some faced hardship and even death, but Paul encourages them by reminding the believers that in all these things, we are more than conquerors. He lists several things that we may encounter but guarantees that none of those things will be able to separate us from the Love of God. "We Are Going to Make It."
GOD'S child,
Pastor T.C. Johnson
