      Pleasing God should be a daily desire and goal and as believers we know that it is the right thing to do. But let’s not get it twisted, Pleasing God is not always Pleasant and a view of Jesus’ life gives witness to that truth. One would have never thought that someone with Jesus’ God-proclaimed relationship would have had to confront the life-long challenges and sufferings that He encountered.  It seems that the closer the relationship with God the bigger the bull’s eye and target placed on one’s life.  When studying the life of Jesus notice that His entire life is a contradiction to the general thinking of what should occur when one is pleasing God. If a child has a father who has the means, it is expected that all protection and provisions will be provided for the child.  The life of Jesus and many who have followed Him will tell you that pleasing God is not always pleasant. The challenge to each believer is to always know that a good relationship with God does not necessarily equate to life being good to you and that God is with you through it all.

The application window for the 2024 Angel Tree program has closed for new applicants. Those who are interested in sponsoring angels can start picking up angels beginning Sunday, November 3, 2024. For additional information, please contact Minister Mary Powe 256-721-1544 ext. 226

The St. Luke Medical Ministry will be hosting a community vaccine campaign during the Alabama A&M University vs. Southern University & A&M College football game on November 2, 2024 from 10:00am-2:00pm. This booth will be setup at the St. Luke tailgate location and is open to everyone. Please review the flyer for additional information.

The Senior Citizen Fun Day Luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 11:30am – 2:30pm. This luncheon is open to all members of St. Luke who are ages 62 . The event will be held in the Clifford Church Multi-purpose building. You may register to attend this event in person or by calling the church office at 256-721-1294. Join us for a day of fun and fellowship.

Church conference is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 6pm. Please join us as we discuss 2024 and plan for 2025. This meeting is open to all members of St. Luke.

Fun-Set Social & Charity Club annual Beautillion Ball will be held on November 16 at the VBC. St. Luke has sponsored a table at this event and there are 6 seats still available at the table free of charge. Available first come. Formal attire. Our own Cayman Little will be presented at this affair!! St. Luke has purchased a table so if you are interested in attending this event, please see sister Dawn Lanier for a ticket availability.

The Black Business Expo will be held on the St. Luke Campus on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10am-2pm. The expo is a celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation. It serves as a platform for black and minority-owned businesses to showcase their products and services, reach new customers, and form lasting connections. This event is open to the public and free of charge.

We kindly request that you remember and include in your prayers those individuals who are part of our SLCC family. Life can sometimes present us with unexpected challenges and it is during these times that our thoughts and prayers can provide comfort and strength. So, please take a moment to send positive thoughts and pray for our SLCC family members.

The food pantry hours have changed to Monday - Wednesday from 9:30am - 2:00pm to serve our community. Donations to the pantry are always appreciated so if you would like to donate, feel free to bring those donations during pantry hours and one of our volunteers will be happy to receive them.
