Here am I, Send me
Isaiah 6:1-8 (KJV)
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
There are subtle lessons embedded within both the text and context of this passage. In the first verse we encounter a man who may have been looking at or depending on a prosperous situation more than he depended on God. Under King Uzziah the nation was doing well for 40 years, but the king died. It has been said that Isaiah couldn’t see his God because he had been looking at his king. It is true that sometimes things are going so well for so long that we begin to take God for granted, but when things change for the worst, we start looking to God with greater sincerity. Someone said that there are times they believe that God allows things to happen just to get us to refocus our attention. In his time of stress, Isaiah went to the temple; just as some people do when they encounter trouble, they start going to church. When Isaiah saw God and the way that He was being worshipped by guiltless angels who had never sinned, he reflected upon himself and confessed that he was undone. He also saw that the whole world was full of God’s glory, which signifies that God is present and in control of, not just his nation, but the global situation is in God’s hands as well. God heard his admission and fixed the man so God could use the man. When Isaiah utters the words, "Here am I, Send me", he is again confessing that God knows he is not perfect, but he is willing to let God use him anyway. It should both humble, encourage, and motivate us to use our God given gifts to the glory of God even though God is still working on us. Will you say to the Lord, 'here am I, Send me'?

Continuing in June 2026, the Women’s Choir will sing in monthly rotation. The next rehearsal will be Tuesday, June 23rd at 6:30 p.m. These rehearsals are open to ages 12 and older. For more information, please contact Rev. Boussi Johnson.

The food pantry hours are Monday - Wednesday from 9:30am - 2:00pm to serve our community. Donations to the pantry are always appreciated so if you would like to donate, feel free to bring those donations during pantry hours and one of our volunteers will be happy to receive them.
