Sunday Sermon - October 12, 2025
|
Speaker: Pastor TC Johnson
Date: Sunday, October 12, 2025
Topic: "THEN"
Scripture: - Matthew 4:1
Scripture Reading - Matthew 4:1
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Sermon Summary
Then, in the text looks or points in different directions that notices the sequence or order of events as it relates to the inauguration of Jesus’s ministry or perhaps ministry in general. To understand what is happening in the text the word ‘then’ requires a look back at what had previously transpired. Looking back into chapter three we find Jesus being baptized by his cousin John the Baptist. God, in the mystery of the Trinity, is present at the Jordon. The Father speaks, the Son is in the water, the Holy Spirit dwells upon the Son, reminiscent of the creation when the Father speaks, the Word brings forth, and the Holy Spirit moves upon the face of the waters. The Father’s words sanctify “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased” the Holy Spirit’s dwelling, empowers, while the Son’s baptism identifies Him with all humanity. We witness a grand celebration!
Then, then requires us to turn and see the Holy Spirit leading Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil! Have you ever had a ‘Then’ experience? I mean everything was going well ‘Then’ the phone call or text message, or doctor’s office called. Jesus knew who He was, He knew who’s He was, He was empowered by the Holy Spirit so He would foil the devil’s attempt to trick Him and close the scene by saying “get behind me satan. Lord, help us to remember your presence in our ‘Then’ moments.
Be Blessed,
Pastor TC Johnson

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
|
Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence. Every October, organizations and individuals unite across the country for a national effort to uplift the needs, voices, and experiences of survivors. Congress declared the month of October to be Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1989.
For DVAM 2025, the Domestic Violence Awareness Project is proud to introduce the theme With Survivors, Always. This theme allows us to explore what it means to be in partnership with survivors toward safety, support, and solidarity. It is both a love letter and a call to action for those committed to advocating for survivors’ needs and rights.
Survivors deserve safety. Survivors deserve support. Survivors deserve solidarity. For DVAM 2025 and beyond, we commit to showing up for survivors, always.

Hey Family! Just a reminder that the open enrollment period for Medicare begins today and goes thru Dec 7.
This is for start date Jan 1 2026. Please be sure to review your plan and any changes that will take place next year. A lot of changes will take place next year. Some surprises that could be disruptive: your copay may increase, your provider may not be covered anymore, your plan may no longer be offered in your area, your meds may be in a different tier than before causing a change in price, the deductible could have increased. These changes won’t really be announced
My suggestion- get a list of your meds, get a list of your providers (primary care and any specialists you expect to see for any reason), any procedures/treatments expected, etc and find that letter from September if you have it (from your current plan) to review any changes. Or call 1-800-Medicare (633-4227)
