Speaker: Pastor T.C. Johnson
Date: April 27, 2025
Topic: Blessed are the Believers
Scripture: John 20-24-29
From the desk of Pastor T.C. Johnson
Scripture Reading - John 20:24-29 (KJV) 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Sermon Summary
The most important events in the history of the world had occurred, Jesus the Lamb of God had been crucified. His death paid the debt that all man had incurred because of their sin. His resurrection proved that He had power over both death and the grave. His declaration “if any man believes in me, he shall have eternal life” had made a way for everyone who believe in Him to be saved for ever. The crucifixion placed so much fear in his followers that they were hiding in what they thought was a secure with locked doors and windows sealed Jesus stepped into the mist of them. Thomas had seen what had happened to the Lord a few days earlier, he knew that Jesus was dead, but Thomas had been with Jesus and witnessed the power with which mighty miracles were done. It wasn’t that Thomas did not believe in Jesus, but it was the people who were telling the news that made Thomas. Peter had denied Jesus, James and John were just power hunger all of them had left Jesus in the hands of and angry crowd. Thomas doubted them because of what he knew about them. Their ways wrecked their witness, that is why Jesus instructs us as Christians to let our light shine before men so they can see our good works and glorify our Father
Be blessed,
Pastor T.C. Johnson
