Mess Before Ministry
Matthew 4:1-4 Pastor T. C. Johnson
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
The message is for those who may have a gift, anointing, call, or assignment from God as Jesus did, but life seems to keep throwing things in the way that make them deem themselves as unready, unable, or unqualified. Interference is one of the many tools that the devil employs to distract and defer us from doing God’s will. Know this: when God places an impactful gift in our spirits, the greater the gift the greater the adversary tries to diminish the positive impact of the gift. There are so many very gifted people who have been sidelined by the devil's deceit; they assign themselves to the pew because of the devil’s traps and tricks. God gifted you so you could bless others, and in fact, the more you bless others the more you receive blessings. The devil tried to interfere with the ministry of Jesus; immediately after His baptism, Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into a desolate place. There He put the spirit of His flesh under the Spirit of His Father. The first temptation is to provide things that would satisfy His personal needs. Jesus does not deny the reality of the need; He demonstrates that physical things will keep us living for a while, but aligning with the Word of God will keep us alive forever. I have learned to measure my ministry by the mess the devil throws at me. In a word, ‘No Mess’, ‘No Ministry.”
