Sunday Sermon - January 11, 2026
|
Speaker: Min. Timothy Bennett
Date: January 11, 2026
Topic: Don't Let Life Stress You Out!
Scripture: Philippians 4: 4-8 (KJV)
Scripture Reading: Philippians 4: 4-8
4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Sermon Summary
Life comes with many challenges that will stress us out if we are not careful and intentional. This stress can come from the responsibilities of being grown, pressures of school, kids and their needs and wants, demands on the job, car failures, the list goes on and on. We have to be intentional about how we deal with the challenges of life in order to not be stressed out all the time. In the text the writer Apostle Paul gives us some techniques to use to deal with life's stress. First, we have to choose to Be Joyful on Purpose. Wake up each day and find a reason to be joyful even if you have to encourage yourself. Secondly, we should Take Life One Day at a Time. There is no benefit in worrying yourself over tomorrow, just do the best that you can with today. Thirdly, we Have to Pray. When life gets overwhelming we can take our burdens to the Lord and leave them there! In prayer God will give us His peace that surpasses all understanding. Finally, we have to Guard Our Mind. Stop allowing negative thoughts live in your mind. Focus on the goodness of God and those things that are praiseworthy. Count your many blessings and see what God has done! We don't have to allow life to stress us out. Because He lives we can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. He has all power in his hands and the Lord will take care of us! "Don't Let Life Stress You Out!
Be Blessed,
Pastor T.C. Johnson
