Sunday Message Summary

Speaker: Pastor T.C. Johnson

Date: Sunday, March  23,2025

Topic: "We Have Come This Far By Faith"

Scripture:  Habakkuk 2:4 & Habakkuk 3:17-19

From the desk of Pastor T.C. Johnson

Scripture Reading

Habakkuk 2:4 (TLB)

4  "Note this: Wicked men trust themselves alone [as these Chaldeans do], and fail; but the righteous man trusts in me and lives!

Habakkuk 3:17-19 (TLB)

17  Even though the fig trees are all destroyed, and there is neither blossom left nor fruit; though the olive crops all fail, and the fields lie barren; even if the flocks die in the fields and the cattle barns are empty,
18  yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be happy in the God of my salvation.
19  The Lord God is my strength; he will give me the speed of a deer and bring me safely over the mountains.

Sermon Summary

After King Josiah died things turned for the worst for Israel, God’s people.  Under King Josiah’s leadership, living was good with both prosperity and safety being enjoyed and perhaps to a fault.  Because and as usual, when people enjoy God’s blessings over time they forget and begin to neglect the Blesser and act as if the blessing comes by their own ingenuity and ability.  We must be careful as God’ people to always remember that we have come this far by Faith. It will serve us well to remember that the bad days which potentially lay ahead of us will be the same kind of days that our ancestors survived and conquered by calling upon the Lord and staying faithful while God Himself directs our path.  Some little man may cancel a department that causes jobs to be lost; or cancel programs that provided help for people to negotiate some difficulty in life; or freeze that small stipend that was meant to make life socially secure: food sources may rise so much that they become scarce; but I will rejoice in the God of my salvation because even though those things were made available on the journey they were not the source of the journey. We have come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord.

Be Blessed,

Pastor T.C. Johnson
