Sunday Sermon - October 5, 2025
|
Speaker: Pastor TC Johnson
Date: Sunday, October 5, 2025
Topic: "Baptize Me Lord"
Scripture: - Matthew 3:13-15 & Luke 3:16-17
Scripture Reading - Matthew 3:13-15 & Luke 3:16-17
Matthew 3:13-15 13 Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized there by John. 14 John didn’t want to do it. "This isn’t proper," he said. "I am the one who needs to be baptized by you." 15 But Jesus said, "Please do it, for I must do all that is right." So then John baptized him.
Luke 3:16-17 16 John answered the question by saying, "I baptize only with water; but someone is coming soon who has far higher authority than mine; in fact, I am not even worthy of being his slave. He will baptize you with fire—with the Holy Spirit. 17 He will separate chaff from grain, and burn up the chaff with eternal fire and store away the grain."
Sermon Summary
The message considers the possibility that many believers may still be living in the water baptism and have yet to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit? When we read Acts 19:1-7 where the Apostle Paul comes upon men who have received John the Baptist’s water baptism but did not know to be baptized in the name of Jesus, it should give us a reason to wonder have we been baptized with the Holy Spirit. This idea is amplified when we remember the many sinful atrocities that the church in America has been complicit with throughout history. But we must also think of the negative actions and behaviors of so many who call themselves Christians. Could it be possible that the church has come to a place where the pews are filled with people who receive only the water baptism and think that it is enough?
John teaches that the water baptized believer will be baptized by Jesus with the Holy Spirit and Fire. The Holy Spirit indwells us with power that both convince and convict us of all unrighteousness/wrong doings, while the Fire burns the chaff or helps us to rid ourselves of the old nature. It is good and right to accept the water baptism, but we must expect and seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire.
Be Blessed,
Pastor TC Johnson

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
|
Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence. Every October, organizations and individuals unite across the country for a national effort to uplift the needs, voices, and experiences of survivors. Congress declared the month of October to be Domestic Violence Awareness Month in 1989.
For DVAM 2025, the Domestic Violence Awareness Project is proud to introduce the theme With Survivors, Always. This theme allows us to explore what it means to be in partnership with survivors toward safety, support, and solidarity. It is both a love letter and a call to action for those committed to advocating for survivors’ needs and rights.
Survivors deserve safety. Survivors deserve support. Survivors deserve solidarity. For DVAM 2025 and beyond, we commit to showing up for survivors, always.
